Lying on the thieving mattress
Queen ties her hair to a bun
Pawning off to be a nun
The cheek has been turned
King peers through the window
Eyeing what he did not seek
Solitary could not speak
No lesson has been learned

The king has lost his throne
The queen escaped with the jester
King shot at both but missed her
The jester died on the street
Now the vinyl has been flipped
The side she plays is spoken
It's beaten, battered, and broken
Seems to be on repeat

Now the king is all alone
His days are long and hazy
Sorrowful, dead, and crazy
He failed to break the spell
Lover's lane has been lost
Guarded by the foulest beast
No man, saint, nor priest
Can break these gates of hell
