Night

The dreamers have all laid their heads.
The stars are strung in heaven's web.
The earth spins silently ahead
into the heart of night.

The raven sky has taken wing
and silence reigns and black is king.
The moon has slipped it's silver ring
upon the hand of night.

And lovers slumber intertwined;
children pray and poets sigh.
And high above the starry sky
the endless dark cathedrals rise.

And once again I am alone
to see this majesty unfold;
I turn my collar to the cold
and walk into the night.
