It was springtime in Ohio
and I had paid my dues
singing songs to empty chairs
in a christian pair of shoes
and I'll admit
I had my fill of country, rock and blues
that's when I looked around
and saw the girl in aisle two

She looked at me as if I had
a voice of solid gold
and clapped her hands in perfect time
I started to grow bold
and I sang those songs like I never had
the feeling grew and grew
