It's late at night
as Bobby Daniels
bids his last goodbye
silently to wife and child
a man could almost cry
he's leaving for a better life
that might be passing by
but takes along some things he needs
and money can't decide

There's the portrait of the pretty girl he had left behind
a book of words that he had read but could never find
a change in estimation of what a man might do
four new packs of cigarettes
and a walking shoe

As Bobby turns right
at the corner
a sad look in his eye
a bugle call screams out the time
as things begin to fly
when Bobby put his foot down
a car went whizzing by
but didn't kill or harm our Bobby
still thankfully alive
