I've learned for myself
I shouldn't count on anybody else's help
I've learned from my mistakes
You've got to be careful in the risks you take

I've learned from being alone
I need you with me more than you will ever know
I should've learned that you don't care
And I should've learned that you never will be there for me

I've learned that being nice
Won't get you what it is that you want in life
I've learned that being rude
Is never the right thing for me to do
I've learned that I was wrong
To call you over and over on the telephone
I've learned I'll always care for you
No matter what you and your friends might do to me

You could say I've learned a lot from you
You could say you've taught me a thing or two
You can say that you don't care for me
But still I'll say, Here's where I'll be for you

I've learned that it's best
When things are going wrong to just give it a rest
I've learned when nothing's right
You've got to hang in there and face the fight
I should've learned to let go
But what am I to do when I love you so?
I've learned not to assume
'Cause that's what started this whole mess with me and you
