When I was a little
Younger nine or ten
I once spoke to the silver
But I saw her again.

To me she out of the sky
She was born riding on the
Her blew all around her
She was the crazy man's daughter.

I used to see her day
Riding her golden
Only once did I her laugh
And it far and lonely.

Once I the river run
And I too far from home
There I met the lady
She was crying, all alone.

I said, "lady, why are you
If I had wings you
I would be flying over river
And singing like birds do."

she threw back her head and she smiled at me
Her tears, how they in the sun
She said, "i no wings to fly with
If I did I surely be gone.

"my brothers all gone far away
To follow hearts and be free
But I am the youngest and my is ageing
And all he's got is me.

"i love my dearly
though he may be
It break his heart if I should leave him
But life is killing me.

"i feel the pulling me
The breezes come and tell me
I want to go with them wherever go
And see the new morning brings."

So she sadly turned away me
So I stumbled my way back
The day I heard she had taken her horse
And off to parts unknown.

Her father stayed his lonely house
And he never more into town
He could be roaming the riverside
And they say that he in and drowned.

Long though I waited, she returned
But when I felt a breeze
I she had sent it from wherever she was
To us that now she was free.
