When I was a little
Younger nine or ten
I spoke to the silver lady
But I saw her again.

To me she out of the sky
She was born on the water
Her hair all around her
She was the crazy only daughter.

I to see her every day
Riding her golden
once did I hear her laugh
And it far and lonely.

I watched the river run
And I wandered too far home
There I met the lady
She was crying, all alone.

I said, "lady, why are you
If I had like you
I would be flying this river
And singing like only do."

Well she threw back her and she smiled at me
Her tears, how they in the sun
She said, "i no wings to fly with
If I did I surely be gone.

"my brothers have all far away
To follow their and be free
But I am the and my father is ageing
And all got left is me.

"i love my dearly
Madman he may be
It break his heart if I should leave him
But this life is me.

"i feel the ocean me
The breezes come and tell me
I want to go them wherever they go
And see what the new brings."

So she turned away from me
So I stumbled my way back
The next day I she had taken her horse
And gone off to unknown.

Her father stayed inside his lonely
And he never more came into
He could be seen the riverside
And they say he jumped in and drowned.

Long though I waited, she never
But when I felt a breeze
I knew she had it from wherever she was
To us that now she was free.
