Sailors

I remember me watching him
being watery-eyed
coming over and telling me
he had to walk on by

And I recall myself standing there
my feelings laying bare
I mean he grew up right next to me
I guess it felt not fair

but he said
I'm somehow feeling like a wayfaring sailor
who sets off to see the world
and though I'm leaving for adventure and treasure
I'm still glad when I am back

Tell me ain't it arrogant
bounding our lives in chains
so who are we to try to? who
are we but friends?

Once I was

who left to see the world
like him I'm now searching for adventure and treasure
cause I know we meet again
