Key West

She's as pretty, pretty as a lioness
and like a lion I tamed her myself
I walked right up and said "Hey you'll never guess!"
It's a beautiful sunset, as south as you can get.

but I never had a home
that I could call my own
so I guess I'm gonna have to roam or build a nest
Tonight will be Key West

She laughed at first, and so I smiled back
Then I asked her "What do you think about that?"
we are closer to Cuba, then the U.S.
Where people make all their money waiting for shipwrecks

And there used to be a train
all the way from Maine
but then a hurricane wiped it out,
and its never been the same

Hemingway really loved his cats
Polydactyl now you try saying that or Jimmy Buffetts hats
he put them in his will, kicked his wife right out
The old man and the sea, or good old hunter s.

But I'm not here for myself,
I really just wanna help
to try and be just blessed
you and me should start a really good business

You won't have to worry cause here it never frosts
so we can sleep outside under the spanish moss
that's when I started to detect a subtle pause
when in my mind all i heard was applause

Well why don't we invest
in all the world's homeless
and put our ills to rest
i betcha that would be the best
or hitchike our way to Key west.
