Sticking their necks out for scientific research.

These giraffes at a zoo near London are helping researchers find out just how their spindly legs work.

Experts are using special technology to measure the animals' leg movements. They want to see if being tall is a help or a hindrance to moving around.

The scientists also hope to solve the evolutionary mystery of how these animals developed from their more modestly proportioned ancestors.

Những con hươu cao cổ tại một vườn thú gần London đang giúp các nhà nghiên cứu tìm hiểu cách những đôi chân mảnh khảnh của chúng làm việc như thế nào.

Các chuyên gia dùng kỹ thuật đặc biệt để đo những vận động của loài động vật này. Họ muốn biết liệu cao là một trợ giúp hay một cản trở cho việc đi lại.

Các khoa học gia cũng hy vọng sẽ giải được bí ẩn về tiến hóa, những con vật này đã phát triển từ tổ tiên vốn có kích thước nhỏ hơn của chúng như thế nào.
