After almost dying out in the 1970s, a kind of whistling language is now undergoing a revival.

Silbo Gomero, as it's known, has become a compulsory subject in one school in Spain's Canary Islands.

The whistling approximates the sounds of the Spanish language.

It can be heard from two miles away, and was used to communicate across valleys and ravines before the arrival of telephones.

Gần như đã mất đi vào những năm 1970s, một hình thức ngôn ngữ bằng huýt sáo nay đang được phục hồi lại.

Được biết đến với cái tên Silbo Gomero, ngôn ngữ huýt sáo này đã trở thành một môn bắt buộc tại một trường học ở Quần đảo Canary của Tây Ban Nha.

Tiếng huýt sáo gần giống như các âm trong tiếng Tây Ban Nha.

Người ta có thể nghe thấy tiếng huýt sáo này từ cách đó hai dặm, và được dùng để giao lưu vượt qua các thung lũng và hẻm núi trước khi điện thoại ra đời.
