Elusive, shy and an excellent predator… but the lynx was hunted to extinction in Britain over 1,000 years ago.

Now, a conservation group plans to reintroduce the species to the wild.

They say they aren’t dangerous to humans, and claim that with an overpopulation of deer, the lynx will help rebalance the ecosystem.

But first, they’ll have to convince farmers who think the animal would pose a threat to livestock.

Một loại động vật ăn thịt săn bắt tuyệt vời, thoắt ẩn thoắt hiện và không dạn dĩ... nhưng mèo rừng đã bị săn bắt tới mức tuyệt chủng tại Anh cách đây 1.000 năm.

Nay một nhóm các nhà bảo tồn có kế hoạch sẽ đưa mèo rừng trở lại sống hoang dã tại Anh.

Họ nói chúng không nguy hiểm cho con người và nói rằng với số lượng hươu quá nhiều, mèo rừng sẽ giúp cân bằng lại hệ sinh thái.

Nhưng trước hết họ sẽ phải thuyết phục được các chủ trang trại, những người cho rằng mèo rừng sẽ là mối đe dọa đối với gia súc.
