Actually, maybe my only hope at poetry is in folly...I'm glad I don't have a gun. 'Cause I will not go quietly...[Well, I think that's enough for today.]

I ride in the shadow of the Cadillac sheen
Through an electric-tinted view of the American Dream
On that golden road called manifest destiny
The heat from off that highway's always mesmerized me
When I saw that smolder roll in like a living thing
I was gone, I've never seen it cease to be
I've never seen the moment it became nothing
Now an omen in the air that seems a part of me
A rising climbing from my shoulders always whispering
Those visions of foreboding of things soon to be
It taunts, it titillates, it keeps enticing me
It comes over cold......I start shivering

Livin' in visions that are all mine
The Bible says that if you seek then ye shall find
Well I have sought and I have found
That every time I turn I'm more tightly bound

It's my world now

What kind of a God would create all this?
Have those Holy Folks and Gurus tell you how to worship
Hey, pray this way, hold you hands like this
Take your shoes off, now, watch, this is how you sit
Legs crossed, back straight, oh, what time is it?
Bright robes and endless accoutrements
And oh, how they love to burn that sweet incense
Remember the Sabbath, ask the Goddess to forgive
Chant these words a thousand times, you'll reach enlightenment
Bow down before this statue, baby, give it a kiss
Light this candle for your ancient spirit relative
Don't forget to bring that money you'll need to free your kids
It'll multiply a trillion times by what you kindly give
Your life is all you have? We'll put you on the waiting list
Must help us fund our godliness must keep appearances
Now what kind of Almighty would create all this? (Repeat)

I know you like to say you have an open mind
At least consider that your Jesus is the anti-christ
Another scheme convincing folks to conquer far and wide
The kind that's been repeated since the dawn of time
The visions that you have have been designed
Got a global army of the most ambitious minds
From temple, church and mosque to each and every holy shrine
A sea of empty process, all faith ritualized
Like science and pop culture, it's been made to please my eye
There's a globe of you with dreams that look a lot like mine
To be above it all, to be the Most High
Have the might to move the masses with a wink and a sigh
Create your own custom-made paradise
To get that special power, find that extra spice
