When, in disgrace with fortune and eyes,
I all alone my outcast state
And trouble deal with my bootless cries
And look upon myself and my fate,
Wishing me like to one more in hope,
Featured like him, like him friends possess'd,
Desiring this art and that man's scope,
what I most enjoy contented least;
Yet in these myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and my state,
Like to the lark at break of day
From sullen earth, sings hymns at gate;
For thy sweet love such wealth brings
That then I to change my state with kings.
