Twas the night Christmas
all through the house
Not a was stirring
Not even a

The all hung
By the chimney care
In that St. Nicholas
would be there

The were nestled
All in their beds
While of sugarplums
in their heads

And Mom in her
And I in my cap
Had just settled
For a long nap

out on the lawn
There arose such a
I from my bed
To see what was the

to the window
I like a flash
Tore open the
And up the sash

The moon on the
Of the new fallen
Gave the of midday
To object

When, what to my wandering
Should
But a sleigh
And tiny reindeer

With a little ol'
So lively and
I in a moment
It must be St.

More than eagles
His courses they
As he and shouted
And called them by

"Now Dasher, now
Now Prancer, now
On Comet, on
On Doner, and Blitzen"

"To the top of the
To the top of the
Now dash away, away
away all"

As dry leaves before the
Hurricane fly they meet
an obstacle
to the sky

So up to the
The courses they
With a sleigh full of
And St. too

And in a twinkling
I heard on the
The and pawing
Of little hoof

As I drew in my
And was turning
the chimney, St. Nicholas
Came a bound

He was dressed, all in fur
his head to his foot
And his
Were all
ashes and soot

A of toys
He had flung on his
And he like a peddler
opening his pack

His eyes, how twinkle
His dimples how
His cheeks were like
His nose like a

His drawl little
Was drawn up a bow
And the of his chin
Was a as the snow

The of his pipe
He held tight in his
And the it
Encircled his head a wreath

He had a broad
And a round belly
shook when he laughed
Like a bowl full of

He was and plump
A jolly old elf
I when I saw him
In of myself

A of his eye
And a of his head
gave me to know
I had nothing to

He spoke not a
But went
To his work and
All the
turned with a jerk

An laying a
side his nose
An a nod
Up the he rose

He sprang to his
To his gave a whistle
An away, all flew
Like the down of a

But I him exclaim
As he drove out of
Happy to all
And to all a
