The Wanderer

Started out free, unscathed and unharmed
'Til he learned how to please and started searching for scars
The warmth that he needs, is cold and it burns
From what he bleeds is for what he yearns

Sleeping on grass, while the rest grows around him
Dancing on glass and won't slow down as the light dims
Anchors of his past hold him fast and stop him knowing
Where the hell he's supposed to be going
Missing and resisting the exact same thing
So he stays wandering

People always let him know where he can be found
But he struggles to believe that their maps aren't upside down
As he explains his compass needle moves west and around
By night he flies for stars and by day he drowns, oh
