The Sea And Its Floor

The ocean rose up and I swore we were lost
Between the wind and the rocks
But boys well sail on to the Promised Land
The sea and its floor may swallow us whole
So steady, all hands
And pray when it ends we run up on dry land

When this storm ends Ill come back again
To you my home, my anchor
When this storm ends for you Ill head
With a dove and a branch in my hand

I lost more of my faith
With each cresting wave that cast us off course
My compass said North lie in two separate ways
And the stars they moved backwards on retrograde paths
Behind banks of clouds that emptied their rain out
For forty more days
