There was a land I once heard
christened Mushroom Down
The folk who there loved it well
And never left town
They there from the hour of birth

They cared for any earth

And cream and cakes
They talked of things they'd never
Beyond the Mushroom
They did not wish to there

To take a Mushroom
by this new desire
More they became
And many began to
On for a frame
A flying vehicle
Of mushroom caps and
One gent proved
And built the thing
And so the day at last
On which the plane should
The went far past
What they could afford
But they were of merry ways
And the kegs were drained
In unison arose gaze
And on the --- it rained
Now in the history of the
No soul had seen
A flood the likes of which down
Upon the Mushroom
A was held betwixt
The elders late night
And even their votes unmixed:
"We must the flight!"
The disappointment the land
Was more than some could
For their own world, thought so grand,
did no longer care
To say the it was a shame
To see the act
As though they'd their hope, their flame
their poor plans were sacked
But the rain continued on
For more than fifty
Their mushroom was almost gone
They dreamt of rays
And that's when they to cease
Their thoughts of other
If only this would decrease
cherish Mushroom Downs
That night was spent in blackness
No star was to shine
But the morning broke their sleep
They saw a sight
The rain was nowhere to be
The sky was fresh and
of joy for miles around
Were all that one hear
And is more, the earth had sprung
New overnight
And many hymns of were sung
And no one of flight
And so at the ballad ends
With sublime
