I back when I was very small
used to be this light switch in the hall
I was much too to reach it so I couldn't turn on the light
My mom have to turn it off at bedtime ev'ry night
And of my dad could reach it and my sister could reach it too
But somehow I was too small and what was I to do?

I stretch and reach the light switch in the hall enough
And I must have it on and off a hundred times a day 'cause I was

Momma kept a of birdseed on a shelf
That everyone could reach except
I would up on my tip toes but I wouldn't quite reach the sack
It's not fun to be too short to get yourself a snack
And of course my dad could reach it and my could reach it too
But somehow I was too small and what was I to do?

Well went by and I just grew and grew
And I was enough
I stretch and reach that shelf up on the wall enough
And I bet I must have had a snacks that happy day 'cause I was
enough

So if you can't the shelf up on the wall
Well no one can when they are young and
'Cause starts out little and then ev'ryone grows and grows

Your dad was really little once sister was little too
And even I was little and then I grew and grew
