Love is the Answer

Verse 1:
Another shooting on the news
What have we come to?
And you wonder why/ took God out the equation
The missing link to your people relations
What happened to Jesus' teaching and the golden rule
Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you
Problem solved if everyone followed this rule
What happened to Dr King's dream
He wanted us all to get along
He'd be appalled at the violence
And void of love in society
While you were searching for the meaning of life
You overlooked the light trying to be right by your own might
The wisdom of man is foolish in God's sight

Back in the day I used to say what's next
A safety search at church?
Not we're not much worse
Get priorities straight, put first what's first
A good home life didn't fully compensate for the pain of the hate from my peers
Getting bullied they tried to strike fear
Only for me to grow up and blow up on this mic right here
Dear God help me
Close the mouths of the wicked speaking deceit
Bout to rise up and do right
Speak the truth in the face of the lies
I wanted to see myself on the cover of magazines
And the dream of making of the cream
But if there's one thing I could get right
To raise my daughters up right in this life, you gotta fight
