that looked back at him from the bathroom
He older than he remembered
it was as if all forty-two years of his

the key behind in his room

Lonnie was a loser

and lit his cigarette for two years
He the focus one last time
and blew a ring
into the blue Dallas haze

He ground the Lucky under the heel of his boot
and squeezed off three shots
Lonnie put the back into its case
and melted the panic
