When most I wink, then do mine eyes see,
For all the day they view things
But when I sleep, in they look on thee,
And bright are bright in dark directed.
Then thou, whose shadow shadows doth bright,
How would thy shadow's form happy show
To the clear day thy much clearer light,
When to eyes thy shade shines so!
How would, I say, mine be blessed made
By on thee in the living day,
When in night thy fair imperfect shade
Through heavy sleep on sightless eyes stay!
All days are to see till I see thee,
And nights days when dreams do show thee me.
