We had an apartment in the city
Me and my husband we liked living there
It's been years and years since the kids have grown
A lifetime of their own, they left us alone

And John and Linda they live in Omaha
And Joe is somewhere on the road
You know we lost Davy in the Korean War

Now me and my husband, we don't talk much anymore
He sits, he stares out the backdoor screen

But what will I say when she asks what's new?
Say, "Nothing, what's with you?, Nothing much to do
