And she up wi'pride,

Then started of Annandale,
A deadly she's taen,
she wad vote the Border-knight,
Tho' she vote her lane.-
'For far-off hae feathers fair,
'And fools o' are fain;
'But I hae this Border-knight,
try him yet again.

A Carlin and grim;
"The Gudeman, or the Young Gudeman,
For me may or swim."
"For fools prate o' Right and Wrang,
While knaves them to scorn;
But the friends hae blawn the best,
So he bear the horn."

The Auld Gudeman o'. Court,

Then slaw rase o' the lochs,
