They met a day;

Now to chuse, and wham refuse,
At strife Carlins fell;
For some had Folk to please,
And wad please themsel.-
Then up spak Meg o'Nith,
And she up wi'pride,
And she wad send the
Whatever betide.-
For the Gudeman o'London Court,
She didna care a
But she wad the Sodger-lad,
To greet his son.-
started Bess of Annandale,

she wad vote the Border-knight,
Tho' she vote her lane.-
'For fowls hae feathers fair,

'But I hae this Border-knight,
