Blue Birds

No one's up early enough to open the blinds
But they're up late enough that they keep on the lights

I no longer feel so petrified
Being alone here late at night

I'm picking at locks and I cannot stop my nails might fall off but I'm just so strung on finding my way to a home

Cuz mama still hasn't come home
And I'm just a little alone cause
All my friends are out kissing boys they're gonna forget
But I can't waste this night on someone I haven't properly met

The blue birds flying around my head
They'll be with me instead

I never was up past like 1 AM
But it seemed the dark sky was my only friend
And funny the sun's name is that
But the moon is the one that draws me my map
But the moon is drawing too many maps
It's telling me to go down all these paths
Maybe that explains why it shines so bright
Its ambitious but won't tell me wrong from right
And some nights when I'm feeling alone
It won't shine won't show me my home
And I'm left with someone else's map
Where do I go do I ever come back
