WHEN IT RAINS ON TIN ROOF HOUSE
i planted a seed in the ground
the warm summer rain comes down
barefoot in the mud, a girl i once knew
i think she lives in the bog
that seed washed into the sea
a white seagull ate thee, landed in a tree
eaten by natives of the Okeefenokee swamp.
I am working on the highway, it's hot
too hot to trot
when the day is through
i go home and love my family too
the next day i get up and do it all again.

i take off my 1987 grey armani suit
and my black korean alligator shoes

it's a long strange trip
always some science fiction apocalyptic ending
i do not think there is an end
the next day i get up and do it all again

I have to start good habits soon
push the bad ones to the moon
I do not assume anything about anybody
I do not talk against thyself or anybody
but I have to have it my way
maybe that is why I have been working so many years on the highway
I still be burning inside with desire
wouldn't know how to quit a dream even if an entire army stood in front of me
