Weary with toil, I me to my bed,
The dear repose for limbs with tired;
But then a journey in my head,
To work my mind, body's work's expired:
For my thoughts, from far where I abide,
a zealous pilgrimage to thee,
And keep my eyelids open wide,
Looking on darkness the blind do see
Save that my soul's sight
Presents thy to my sightless view,
Which, a jewel hung in ghastly night,
black night beauteous and her old face new.
Lo! thus, by day my limbs, by my mind,
For thee and for no quiet find.
