toolin' along in my

as I cross the Mississippi line
I heard highway start to whine
and I knew left rear tire was about to go
well the was flat and I got uptight
'cause there wasn't a fillin' station in
so I jes' limped the shoulder on the rim
I went as far as I could and I stopped the car
it was right in front of this bar
a kind of a redneck lookin' called the Dew Drop Inn
well I my hair up under my hat
and the bartender that I had a flat
and he be kind enough to give me change for a one
there was one I was sure proud to see
there a soul in the place 'cept for him an' me
and he jest disgusted an' pointed toward the telephone
I called up the station the road a ways
and he said he wasn't very busy
and he could have there in jest 'bout ten minutes or so
he now you jes' stay right where yer at and I didn't bother tellin'
the durn fool I sure as hell didn't have else to go
I jes up a beer and sat down at the bar
when some guy walked in an' said who this car
with the peace sign the mag wheels and on the floor
well he looked at me and I damn near
and I decided that I'd jus wait
so I layed a on the bar and headed for the door
jes' when I thought I'd get there with my skin
these five big dude strollin' in
this one old drunk chick and some fella with green teeth
an' I was almost to the door the biggest one

an' when I did all hair fell out from underneath
now the thing I wanted was to get into a fight
in Mississippi on a Saturday night

well they all started and I felt kinda sick
and I knew I'd better think of somethin' quick
so I reached out an' kicked ol' green-teeth right in the knee

like their heads on fire and their asses was catchin'
but I figured I oughta go an split before the cops got there
I hit the road I was really wheelin'
