And he found little Muley and said,
"They've been out by the cats,

Tom walked down to the neighbor's farm,
his family.
They took Preacher and loaded in a car,
And his said, "We've got to get away."
His said, "We've got to get away."

Now, the twelve of the Joads made a heavy load;
But Joad did cry.
He up a handful of land in his hand,

They fed him short ribs and coffee and syrup;
And Joad did die.
They buried Joad by the side of the road,
on the California side,
They Grandma on the California side.

They stood on a mountain and looked to the west,
And it looked the promised land.
That bright valley with a river running through,
was work for every single hand, they thought,
There was for every single hand.

The Joads rolled away to the camp,
There cooked a stew.
And the little kids of the jungle camp
Said: "We'd like to some, too."
Said: "We'd like to some, too."

Now a deputy sheriff loose at a man,
a woman in the back.
Before he take his aim again,
Preacher Casey dropped him in his track, boy,

They handcuffed and they took him in jail;
And he got away.
And he met Tom on the old river bridge,
And these few words he did say, boy,
few words he did say.

"I preached for the Lord a long time,
Preached the rich and the poor.
Us folkses, all get together,
we ain't got a chance anymore.
We got a chance anymore."

Now, the deputies come, and Tom and run
To the where the water run down.
But the thugs hit Casey with a club,
laid Preacher Casey on the ground, poor Casey,
They laid Preacher on the ground.

Tom Joad, he that deputy's club,
Hit him the head.
Tom Joad flight in the dark rainy night,
And a deputy and a lying dead, two men,
A and a preacher lying dead.

He her up out of bed.
An' he goodbye to the mother that he loved,
Said Preacher Casey said, Tom Joad,
He said Preacher Casey said.

"Ever'body might be one big soul,
Well it looks a-way to me.
Everywhere you look, in the day or night,
That's where I'm be, Ma,
where I'm a-gonna be.

Wherever little children are and cry,
people ain't free.
Wherever men are for their rights,
where I'm a-gonna be, Ma.
That's where I'm be."
