This scene I'm seeing nightly

After laughter there was awkward silence
We needed one more round to make headway
Taking off our sober faces finding much less somber things to say

and after plastered, pounding fisted, laughter
disastrous if we should loose our nerve
closing open mouths, they're so unsightly when they're not speaking finer words

and its alright by me if you prefer being quite
I'm quite content watching the lashes dance above your eye lids
its hard to take things in when you're engulfed in endless noise
I'm overjoyed, to see the beauty I was blind to, when I still my voice

After laughter two cars driving onward
and outward where they will soon divide
the shell that I return isn't merely where my faithful heart resides.

after silence I slip into the evening
I-10 should take me right back home to you
