An saol ina gcodhladh, 's mise liom fin

Cosil le h-anamnacha i bpin.
Iomln geala 's rabharta

Crnn na fairrige ag dul siar ar mo

Istigh ar na h-insein t sean-reilig
An it mhaireadh naoimh san aimsir fad

English From Jason Carns
by the beach, in the deep of night
The big world is and I am alone
The are calling sorrowfully
Like poor souls in
Total and total abundance (?)
and calmness and beauty in the world
The murmur of the sea going my ears
The soft song of the water in the river.
on the headland* there is a blessed old cemetery
The place in which saints lived in long ago
There are within spending a while carefree
The not walk round on the shore any more.
Loneliness strikes my as I look at the cemetery
And I'm thinking about the people in there
Men and young women, old and children
People of my people and of my heart.
The are crowing and the stars are fading
The moon is setting and it's not until day
now blessed old cemetery
And to the people who walked me down by the beach.
(Above...)* A rough translation. Couldn't find the word "insein", but
it something like this.
