In my I will always see
the town that I have loved so
where our school played ball by the wall
and we laughed the smoke and the smell.
Going in the rain running up the dark lane
past the jail and down the fountain
Those were days in so many many ways
in the I loved so well.

In the early morning the shirt-factory
called women from the Moor and the Bog
while the man on the played the mother`s role
fed the children and trained the dogs.
And when got tough there was just about enough
but they saw it without complaining
for inside was a burning pride
for the town I so well.

There was music in the Derry air
like a language we all could understand
I remember the day I earned my first pay
as I played in the pick-up band.
There I my youth and to tell you the truth
I was sad to leave it all me
for I`d learned `bout and I`ve found me a wife
in the town I so well.

But when I how my eyes have burned
to see how a town be brought ti its knees
by the armored and the bombed-out bars
and the gas that on to every breeze.
Now the installed by that old gasyard wall
and the damned barbwire high and higher
with their tanks and their guns, oh my god have they done
to the I loved so well.

Now the gone but they still carry on
for their been bruised but never broken
they will not for their hearts are all set
on tomorrow and once again.
For what`s done is done and won is won
and what`s lost is and gone forever
I can only pray for a bright day
in the I loved so well.
