I don't like this feeling here

Scratching noises out of sight
Things that go bump in the night
Not as strange as they might seem

Cryptic signs of what's to come
The universe's smoking gun
This is not the end just yet
We still have time to spend

Vulnerable as first day born
Weary, teary, wise and worn
Near-poetic how we are
So bare, so close
So scared, just ghosts
A shell upon the sandy shore
