the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a

His cheeks were like roses, his nose a cherry!
His droll little was drawn up like a bow,

And the smoke it his head like a wreath;
He had a face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed a bowlful of jelly.

He was and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a of his head,
gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went to his work,
And all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And his finger aside of his nose,
And a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He broke cross the street, who poll freedom,
And away all flow like the dark of a kingdom.
But I heard him exclaim, he drove out of sight,
Christmas to all, and to all a good-night"
