We were led astray somewhere in our sleep
The sirens sing unpleasantly to no avail

Your violent screams
They were contoured beneath
The context of my dreams

Awake
Out of the chasm
You dragged my soul back to the floor
Oh how your fear convulsed my bones
And I can tell you've been alone
And though my words could never hold much water
They might shield the rain

I can tell it's killing you, the way you are right now
I'd trade the worst of truths for the rest of all my doubts
You saw the blame just laying waste
So you ripped it from the ground
And that makes you shiver now...

Stay away from me
Don't go flattering your sense of empathy
I'm a ghost without a home

May my heightened senses lead me out
Back into my cold, dejected mire
One hundred paces past your door
The fear caught up
But the precision in your words
was the scripture on the page
And the story's slightly different
but the handwriting's the same
