to pick up breakfast
looks like breakfast is going to have to wait
and the rain pools under that leak in that window
as love evaporates
I close my eyes and let my dreams take me away

how could tomorrow ever follow today
it's only 8 AM I already know nothing's going to go my way
I'm going back to bed come wake me up when my luck has changed

I pulled out my checkbook to pay
after all it was probably my fault
that you were rushing across town
in the middle of the night to escape
that wine stain on that white shirt
in that box under the stairs
