Suddenly there is a thunderous crash, followed by the
of police sirens and flashing red lights. The cat
is on the loose! The cats scatter, leaving an empty
stage.
Two off-stage giggles signal the entrance of and
Rumpleteazer, a fun-loving, frolicking of pranksters,
getting in trouble with the family with whom they live.

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer a notorious couple of cats
As knockabout clowns, quick comedians
Tight-rope and acrobats

They had an reputation
their home in Victoria Grove
That was their center of operation
For they were incurable given to

If the area window was found
And the basement looked a field of war
If a tile or two came on the roof
Which ceased to be waterproof

If the drawers were out from bedroom chests
And you couldn't find one of your vests
Or after one of the girls
Suddenly her Woolworth pearls
Then the family would say, "It's that cat!

It was or Rumpleteazer!"
And most of the time they left it at

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer had an gift of gab
They highly efficient cat burglars
As well and remarkably at a smash and grab

made their home in Victoria Grove
They had no occupation
They were fellows who liked to engage
A friendly in conversation

the family assembled for Sunday dinner
Their minds up that they wouldn't get thinner on
Argentine joint, and greens
Then the cook would from behind the scenes

And say in a voice that was broken sorrow
"I'm afraid you must wait and have tomorrow
The joint has gone the oven like that!"
Then the family would say, "It's horrible cat!

It was or Rumpleteazer!"
And most of the time left it at that

Mungojerrie and had a wonderful way
Of together
And of the time you would say it was luck
And some of the time you say it was weather

go through the house like a hurricane
And no sober person could his oath
Was it and Rumpleteazer?
Or could you sworn that it mightn't be both?

When you heard a dining room
Or up the pantry there came a loud crash
Or down from the library came a ping
From a which was commonly said to be Ming
Then the family say: "Now which was which cat?

It was Mungojerrie and
And there's at all to be done about that!"

Macavity!
