I'm going away to leave you, you said I'm going down that road
To see what I'll see you, see what I've never known
And one things resting on my mind,
You said I'm off to see what I wonder I'll find
I'll be in the mountains of Mexico

Said I see smiling faces, off on farther down the road
There all in their places, each with a heavy load
Seemed like just good people tarnished by the sun
They all seemed to be living as one
Up in those mountains of Mexico

As the road winds onward, twists through unchanging lands
We look for Mr. Cancer, all we see is those tiny hands
And offer us sparkling rocks for bread
We just stopped and shared with the children what we had
Up in those mountains of Mexico
