How can be trouble in this world?
With the color in these hills, the October sky,
this road that winds along the river.
barns and tractors in the fields
And sit in front yards, or stand outside the churches
Kids are throwing and pulling carts of pumpkins

How can there be such trouble in world?
Where the roll so gently,
Deer graze on the hillsides, chat on the phone lines
The whole wide world's a prayer for morning
The geese inspect the in the fields
And all along the roadside, stop to wonder

And a red tailed hawk is
And a father hugs his
And an old man holds the car for his wife to come and see
Then they turn and at me.
How can there be such trouble in this

I know of course I know that this is not the picture
I don't of course I don't know to do.

But the road keeps through the afternoon
And it doesn't know the sorrow or an inkling of the
of the rage the water, the hatred and the horror.
It just wanders this valley with the river by its side
As the fades from the sky
