King Of Humble

Listen children, gather near
You're about to hear
Of the folly of Man

Though we bravely try
Tears well up in our eyes
For the telling is sad

Oh, the King of Humble never wore a crown
Good and kind to all his people
Still he is renowned

The other kings with all their might
Couldn't stand up to his light
So they plotted and planned

Sent in their evil spies, spread fear, demoralize
And the panic began

Oh, the King of Humble addressed the crowd:
"Keep your faith in times of trouble, I won't let you down"
"No, I won't abandon you...keep your faith"

A traitor opened up the gates while most were fast asleep
The Castle-guard, caught unaware, were taken easily
Flaming arrows filled the sky, set fire to everything
The few of us still left alive, we went to find the King

He said: "Lay down those make-shift swords"
"You can't hope to face these hordes"
"Escape while you can"

When we were safely out
We made a final count
But we were missing a man

Oh, the King of Humble, he stood his ground
All alone and outnumbered
It was us who let him down
