Honest Man

With the blink of an eye,
Never thought to say goodbye.
Still he struggles to the shore,
Things aren't changing anymore.
Never one to seek the light,
Left instead to face the night.
The final judgment misconstrued,
Solace gained in what they knew.

He won't say, what he's waiting for
He won't stray, from what he came here for

The dream allowed him to pretend,
This wasn't how he'd meet his end.
But soon the legend came to light,
The fiction hidden in plain sight.
As he learned to live without,
Those who knew him had no doubt
This had always been the plan,
Set to leave, an honest man.
