If you ever go the sea to Ireland,

You will sit and watch the rise over Claddagh

And watch the gosoons at their play.

For the blowing o'er the sea to Ireland,
are perfumed by the heather as blow.
And the in the uplands digging praties
a language that the strangers do no know.

For the strangers came and to teach us their ways,
And scorned us for being what we are
But they might as well be chasing moonbeams
Or light a penny candle a star

And if going to be a life hereafter,
And somehow I am there's going to be,
I ask my God to let me make my heaven
In that dear land the Irish Sea.
