Five Months

Its hard to believe
You could have said never leave
Instead you built us our boats
And taught us how to float out at sea

So we roamed
We're less impressed with the unknown
But we're still making maps
And we're searching perhaps
We have grown

So we took it in our stride
And our strides took us further away
From a home growing old
Paint and memories fade day by day
And I'm so nostalgic for when
Our December would end with a warmth
So now looking backwards
I'm gonna miss what we made

It's funny how
We come from such a quiet town
Still we speak with such bite
Except for on the nights back south
And I guess that shows
The only things we truly know
Are the ties that we made
To the places we stayed
To our home

So we took it in our stride
And our strides took us further away

And I'm slowly working on how
I can live in the now
From above
So now looking downwards
I'm gonna miss what we made

Now the backyard is a wilderness
Cos we've been gone too long
And we lost one we'll sorely miss
But it keeps moving on
So we keep moving on
