Fish on the Beach

The rising tide is coming in
I'm here but I have no fins
And I wait like an urchin
To stick to someone's skin

Flies are attracted to my guitar
Like honey in a jar
Hovering from afar
Towards where you are

I've missed every boat and I'm insecure
If I could breathe underwater, I'd feel much worse

My world is small, your world is big
I just see faces outflowing in the wind
I don't hear you call nor see you comin'

I'm being splashed by the blue
From a happy luscious view
But it floats something new
Every time I think of you

Afar, the white whale still spouts
Don't you know who's been through his mouth?
The cool air uttered another shout
So you better hurry out

The man in the water smiles like a fish
And he portrays that I might become another dish
