What God took a razor cut holes in our face
Two to hear, two to see, one to smell, one to taste
I'm shaking hand with precision and grace
Which everyone gets only sometimes
No one was righteous, we all came out wrong
Some of us were too short, too fat, or too tall
We kept on cutting and sewing up cloths
And built someone fit for a savior

Don't be sad, we were all thrown away
But there's enough of us crumpled up people to find somebody

And please keep me out of your history books
I've been known for the places and the hands that I've shook
Cut us to sinners, singers, and crooks
Still couldn't get what he longed for
We wandered around and learned how to speak
Wanted so badly to pray or to preach
Some all-seeing father so far out of reach
Didn't even bother trying
