An airplane lies on the evening wind
On board is a man and his child
They sit secure and warm
and slip into the trap of sleep
In three hours they will be there
for their mother's birthday

The view is good; the sky is clear

Onward, onward into ruin
We must live, until we die
Mankind doesn't belong in the sky
So the Lord in Heaven calls
his sons to the wind
Bring me this human child

The child still has time to lose
There an echo jumps to his ears
A dull rumble drives the night
and the cloud driver laughs
He shakes the human man freight awake

Onward, onward into ruin
We must live until we die
And the child says to his father
Do you not hear the Thunder?
That is the King of the Wind
He wants me to be his child

From the clouds drops a choir
They creep into the little ear
Come here, stay here
We'll be good to you
Come here, stay here
We are your brothers

The storm embraces the flying machine
The pressure falls quickly in the cabin
A dull rumble drives the night
The human freight screams in panic

Onward, onward into ruin
We must live until we die
And to the Lord God, pleads the child
Heaven take back the wind
Bring us unscathed to earth

From the clouds drops a choir
They creep into the little ear

We will be good to you

The father holds onto the child, tightly
And presses him onto himself
He doesn't notice the child's harsh breathing
But Fear knows no compassion
So the father, with his arms
Presses the soul from the child
Which sets itself upon the wind and sings:
