And my father served in the in the 50's
He lost his eye in a training mission
He came home, he put a flag up at the I was raised on

I lost him six months prior to the attacks on New city
And the United States and flag
Flew out in that yard, flown there everyday
He raised me right an' he never bitched one about losing his eye

Never heard him cry it one time
He was to go, do it, that's why we're free today
And it's our turn to stand on what our fathers and did for us
And make sure we don't let 'em

I wrote a song in the days after September 11th
It's the angry American
