My Voice

I was Never one to go out to protest
Said to myself
Gonna donate some money and stay in bed.

Got the invite, turned out the light
And never thought about it again
Didn't mean to turn my back, I didn't know how to act
When faced with so much conflict.

Then one day something began to change
I don't know why, I just didn't feel the same
Like an itch on the bottom of my feet
Made me wana go and hit the street

What do we want?
When do we want it?

I used to just sit and stare at problems
Like poisoned water in flint and on Native Reservations.
Now every day there's something new to fear,
It's up to us to make a solution appear,
Don't give in, resist, march stand up and fight
For human dignity and our rights!

Brothers and sisters walk for truth and justice
Demand that peace and equality replace this
Hate, pollution, famine and war
Restore love and compassion better than before.
