I woke up at 4am
Knowing what I needed to do
I had to find out if there was still hope
Or if we were through

Headed north bound to San Francisco
As the sun rose from the east
Carried on wheels of hope
Seeking love and peace

But as the miles stretched on for hours
It became clear to me
That sometimes being courageous
Borders on being crazy

I drove 500 miles
On a pilgrimage of hope
Hoping to salvage what was left of us
Before coming back home
But I never got to see you
Or hear your voice again
And I had to accept that sometimes things
